Welcome to this week’s What’s On! Guide for the events and festivals happening this week around County Leitrim with Órla McNabola. We’re talking Christmas Markets, Drama, Classical Music, Festival Fundraising and Frozen 2.
Since Tuesday, The Glens Centre in Manorhamilton have been hosting Splódar Theatre Company and their nightly performances of Eclipsed, written by Patricia Burke Brogan and set in a Magdalene laundry in 1963.
Wrapping up with its final performance tonight, there will be a Q&A session and also a guest speaker afterwards (Caelainn Hogan, author of Republic of Shame).
Tomorrow night (29 Nov), the Glens host the magnificent Carducci String Quartet from the UK. They are bringing works of Haydn, Dvořák, Boydell and Moran alive in Manorhamilton tomorrow night. Eoin Schmidt-Martin, voila player with the group joins Órla on the show.
Also on Friday night, Moya Brennan and Cormac de Barra will bring their enchanting Voices & Harps live show to The Dock. They will also be joined by Lia Wright on fiddle and vocals.
The An Tóstal Festival are holding a Novelty Race Night in Berry’s Tavern on Saturday (30th Nov). On the night, there will be wind-up horses racing, a raffle and spot prizes galore. There will be various teams competing on the night. Refreshments and music with DJ DL. Free admission on the door.
North Leitrim Women’s Group are giving you the perfect opportunity to start Christmas shopping this Sunday (1st Dec). From 12 noon – 4pm
Annaduff GAA are getting into the festive spirit this Sunday (1 Dec) with their first ever Santa Dash. This 5km/10km walk or run will raise funds for North West STOP and Féileacáin.
