Shane Quinn, Aidan Rooney, Thomas McDonald, Drumshanbo VS Volleyball & January Awards – Sports Preview: Episode 171

Today’s show takes in all the action over the coming few days around the county with a focus on the second round of the National League with Leitrim player Shane Quinn and the analysts view with former county star Aidan Rooney, now with Ocean FM.

Shane will tell us all about the mood and spirit in the camp and how they have regrouped and reacted positively to the defeat to Roscommon. He chats about the difference between the belief in the squad and the changable expectation levels of supporters.

Aidan Rooney and Breifne share a nice slice of humble pie after setting low expectations ahead of the Derry game and look forward to the visit of Cork to a reenergised Pairc Sean McDiarmada on Sunday.

Manor Rangers boss Thomas McDonald looks forward to a mouthwatering clash with Cartron on Sunday morning at the top of the Sligo / Leitrim Superleague table, where a win for Manor will see them leapfrog the Sligo side at very top. McDonald discusses the importance of rotating his squad as their fine run has meant big games coming each and every weekend with no end in sight.

We also catch up with Shane Hegarty and John King of Drumshanbo VS Volleyball after their Cadet Boys team defeated the Northern Irish champions on Thursday to become the best school side in the country for a joint record 4th time.

Finally we take a run through the 25 nominations for our inaugural Sportsperson of the Month award with no fewer than 9 sports involved across the three categories of International, National and Local athletes.
