Niall Morahan, Brendan Guckian & Leitrim Sports Partnership – Sports Preview: Episode 181

This weekend sees the return of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division and we’ll be chatting to Sligo Rover’s Niall Morahan ahead of their start with Finn Harps, we’re also chatting to Leitrim U17 Football Manager Bredan Guckian and Trish Forde of the Leitrim Sports Partnership.

Niall chats about his breakthrough season last year including his international debut and being selected into the U19 European Championships Squad and playing 25 first team games last season with the Bit O’Red.

He chats about how preseason has gone for Rovers including new arrivals, departures from the squad and how injuries are affecting their preparations.

Brendan Guckian joins us to remind us about how the U17 county team are shaping up ahead of their season opener on Wednesday evening in Athlone IT against Limerick in the Leinster U17 League. They face Longford and Louth over the Easter break.

Trish Forde of the Leitrim Sports Partnership drops in to discuss all that’s going on with them at the moment from pre-school programmes, youngsters and even for active age and special needs groups around the county.

Breifne takes a look at Sligo Rugby’s All Ireland League clash away to Blackrock College while their junior side travel to Castlebar. Carrick on Shannon Rugby host Cregg’s on Sunday afternoon.

Leitrim Hurler’s National League game has been switched to Belturbet on Sunday afternoon at 2pm while the U20 Footballers face Galway in Avantcard Pairc Sean MacDiarmada

Breifne also features the fixtures in the U13 & U17 club leagues which start this evening and continue over the entire weekend with the U13 league now combined with Longford for a better grading level within the competition.
