Manor Rangers, Ladies & Junior Football & Niall Morahan – Sports Roundup: Episode 217

This week on the show we’re featuring the Glasshouse Hotel Cup final victory for Manor Rangers (2:13) as well as looking at the results in the Ladies Football (3:22), Junior Football (7:21) and National League Soccer for Niall Morahan and Dearbhaile Beirne (13:48).

A great weekend for soccer in Leitrim this weekend as Manor Rangers secured some silverware with a 5-1 victory in the Glasshouse Hotel Cup Final. After the game we spoke to Manorhamilton Rangers players Brian McDonald (14:58), Robbie Cunningham (18:11), Assistant Manager Sean Gallagher (20:16) & Player / Manager Thomas McDonald (23:29).

In Ladies Football (3:22) Kiltubrid secured their semi final spot while nothing could seperate last year’s finalists St. Josephs and Glencar/Manor in their Senior Championship clash. We spoke to Michelle Heslin (27:01), Ailbhe Clancy (28:04) & Padhraic Corrigan (30:50) after the game.

The Leitrim GAA Junior ‘A’ Championship continued as Gortletteragh and Aughawillan were eliminated from the competition ahead of their last games in the group. Gortletteragh’s fate was sealed in defeat to Glenfarne/Kilty in Ballinaglera on Saturday evening, we caught up with Glenfarne manager Aidy McCallion (32:34) and Gortletteragh’s Terry Kelleher (36:22) after the game.

Allen Gaels, Mohill & Melvin Gaels secured their progression to the Semi Finals of the Junior ‘B’ Championship with one more team to progress when the groups are settled in two weeks time while at Junior ‘C’ level Aughavas nailed down their Semi Final spot with their second victory while Dromahair will be relying on results elsewhere to qualify after their defeat to Bornacoola. After the Allen Gaels V St. Mary’s game we hear from Martin Raftery (41:40) and St. Mary’s keeper Willie Guckian (39:29)

We close the show with a in depth discussion with Sligo Rovers’ player Niall Morahan (43:56) after their 3-1 victory over league champions Dundalk capped off a fantastic week for the club with their four wins in five games seeing them in their highest league position in six years.
