Gary Donohoe, Patricia Forde & Thomas McDonald – Sports Preview: Episode 155
It’s the first sports preview of the year and we’re looking at the three main field sports as the senior Gaelic Footballers rejoin the action a week later than the rugby and soccer sides across the county.
We’re chatting to Gary Donohoe, the manager of the County U20 side, as well as a selector with Terry Hyland’s senior county team about the FBD Semi Final against the Rossies on Sunday and his own charges in the U20 Philly McGuinness Cup against Longford as a curtain raiser for the O’Byrne Cup visit of Dublin to Pearse Park on Saturday afternoon. We’ll be casting an eye back at their defeat last weekend to Fermanagh also.
Thomas McDonald, Player / Manager with Manor Rangers, will be telling us about their season so far and their crunch top of the table clash with defending league champions Carbury on Sunday morning in Sligo.
Patricia Forde of the Leitrim Local Sports Partnership will be filling us in on all the opportunities for the general public to get out and active this spring with Operation Transformation walks taking place next Saturday (18th @ 11am) in Ballinamore, Manorhamilton and Carrick on Shannon as well as Dromahair (Sunday 19th). We also find out more about coaching and child protection courses, their Swim 4 All programme and plenty more of the work they carry out with their various partners across the county.
We’ll also find out about who are our first weekly nominees for our inaugural Sports Person of the Month Award, with Athletics, Rugby, Soccer and Gaelic Games all featuring this week.
