We sent Órla McNabola north to Drumkeerin to see how their footballers were faring out ahead of their Leitrim GAA Intermediate championship final this weekend. Here’s a little video which was part of our live preview show last night in The Glens Centre in Manorhamilton. Join the show’s Facebook group here: Leitrim Daily

Live on the show while looking forward to the game on Sunday, Bryan Whitney and Gerry Spellman of Leitrim Gaels shared their experiences of the foundation of the club, the impact it’s made on their lives and the lives of the entire community of Leitrim Village while Seamus Gallagher and Joe Walpole talked about their memories of being part of Drumkeerin’s Junior Championship success in 1975 and the club’s other titles in 1966 and 1985.

Joe Honeyman and Aidan Rooney had the audience in stitches throughout their look back at the 1994 Connacht Championship success. The long time friends reminisced about their happy and funny memories of that period in Leitrim football, of course it’s not long before the club rivalry kicks in and they are comparing notes for next Sunday’s senior final between Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins and Glencar / Manor.

Both men talk about the impact of Gaelic games in their lives with Joe managing the Leitrim Minor team this year and Aidan fresh from a disappointing county semi final result with his St. Mary’s side in Sligo.
