We catch up with a number of the coaches and players across those championships including Allen Gaels, Aughnasheelin, Leitrim Gaels, Carrigallan, Fenagh & Ballinaglera.
Michelle Heslin captained Leitrim to championship survival in their relegation encounter with Wicklow and she joins us to talk about the game, their season so far and looking forward to her first outing in the club championship next weekend with defending champions St. Josephs.
On the international front Gerard O’Donnell and Eanna Madden both reached finals in the European Team Championships. We look back over their record this weekend while Muireann Devaney was in action in Belgium for the U17 International Women’s Soccer Team.
Dearbhaile Beirne and Ailbhe Clancy were on opposing sides during the 1-1 draw between league leaders Peamount United and Galway WFC in the FAI Women’s National League.
We’re also previewing the Leitrim Glens Sportive cycling event in Manorhamilton next Sunday morning. Entry closes for the longer events on Thursday so entries are encouraged earlier than that. Seamus McGowan joins Breifne to talk about the event.
Finally Breifne is also joined by Enda Lyons, Games Promotion Officer, with Leitrim GAA to discuss the new U13 / U14 County Regional competition which has taken off over the last few years and helped raise the standard of player coming into the counties academy structures.
