Episode 119: Sports Round Up

This week Niall Brady and Shaun Chandler join Breifne to talk about their respective exits from the Connacht Club Championships over the weekend.

Niall tells us about his Glencar / Manor side’s defeat to Ballintubber in Castlebar on Sunday while Shaun recaps his Leitrim Gaels’ side encounter with Roscommon Intermediate champions Tulsk on Saturday.

In a quiet weekend locally for Soccer all eyes were on Mohill’s Dearbhaile Beirne who despite an excellent individual performance including creating the second Peamount goal found herself on the losing side of the FAI Senior Women’s Final with Wexford Youths winning 3-2.

Breifne also chats to Sean McKeon and Keith Crossan of Carrick on Shannon Rugby Club who told us all about their 8-6 defeat to Tuam early on Sunday morning, while former Carrick underage player Matthew Earley made his first All Ireland League start for Sligo Rugby Club in a 14-10 victory over Dungannon.

Jennifer and Luke McNamee joined us from Italy to let us know all about the 28 gold medals won by Leitrim athletes from the Green Dragon karate club at the World Karate Championships.
