Episode 103: Sports Round Up

This week it’s all about the county finals as the Leitrim GAA Senior & Intermediate championships came to a conclusion yesterday.

Glencar / Manorhamilton overcame Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins by the margin of a single point in the senior decider while Leitrim Gaels secured their first Intermediate Championship victory over a resolute Drumkeerin side.

We also hear from victorious coach Mal Guckian, Brendan Flynn and club chairman Mark Chandler after Leitrim Gael’s win over Francis Davitt’s Drumkeerin side. Francis also shares his disappointment after the defeat.

St. Joseph’s fell short at the last hurdle in their bid to secure the Connacht Ladies Intermediate crown while Drumreilly ended their season with a Division 2 league title with one point victory over Ballinaglera on Saturday evening.

Longford Town crashed out of the SSE Airtricity League promotion playoffs on penalties at the hands of Cabinteely after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Locally Manor Rangers secured a 2-1 victory over Aughanagh Celtic in the Sligo Leitrim Superleague.

Muireann Devaney and Leah Fox saw their U17 National League season come to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Galway in the Semi Finals of the league, we speak to both girls after the game.

In Rugby, Carrick on Shannon Rugby Club saw their first home game of the season end in a 12-0 victory over OLBC on Sunday evening, while former club man Matthew Earley was a substitute in a 45 – 14 victory over Belfast Harlequins in their first home game in Division 2B of the All Ireland League.
