Carrick Town FC, U15 Boys & U18 Girls Football & AIL Rugby – Episode 141
This week on the sports round up we catch up on the quietest sporting weekend of the year so far. Two county finals at U15 Boys and U18 Girls took place with Carrick Town continuing their fine league form as Sligo Rugby had their hearts broken in injury time at the hands of Blackrock.
We kick off the show with Jason Kavanagh, manager of Carrick Town FC, and some of his squad, Patrick Witton and Callum O’Hagan. They share about how their season has been going and the good run of form after third third consecutive clean sheet victory in the Sligo Leitrim League.
Glencar / Manor topped off an amazing year for the club with the U15 Boy’s championship final victory over a resolute Gortletteragh side, Breifne speaks to their manager Dominic Kelly about the final and their season, where the prioritisation of the championship say them lift the title after some patchy league performances earlier in the season.
Keeldra Gaels’ Coach Lizzie Ward recaps the U18 ladies 13-a-side final where in a repeat of the finalists in the Junior Championship, Keeldra Gaels emerged victorious after a solid performance from Drumkeerin Ladies. A 6-8 to 3-5 victory enough to bring the title home to the Gortletteragh and Cloone based outfit.
Finally Matthew Earley relives the disappointment of conceding a last gasp try and touchline conversion to lose by a single point, 27-26, to rugby kingpins Blackrock College in their AIL Rugby League Division 2B clash at Hamilton Park, Strandhill on Saturday afternoon.
