Brendan Doyle & Dearbhaile Beirne – Sports Preview: Episode 212

This week we’re taking a deep dive into some of the background to the new Leitrim GAA Streaming service as well as Leitrim’s involvement in the returning Women’s National League with Mohill’s Dearbhaile Beirne.

We start with a run through the Leitrim GAA fixtures for the weekend with the Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship (1:55), Smith Monumental’s Intermediate Championship (6:15) & Vistamed Junior B & C Championships (9:16)

Brendan Doyle (10:42), IT Officer with Leitrim GAA, breaks down the infrastructure behind the new streaming service for gaelic games in the county, the man power that’s required to deliver a quality HD offering and the future for the scheme with expansions and covering games into the knock out stages and for future years.

He discussed the planned introduction of a nominal charge for the knock out games, interviews with players and managers and inclusion of intermediate games with the possibility of junior, ladies and hurling finals not ruled out at this stage.

We finish our look at this weekend’s games with a look at the Ladies football fixtures at Senior (23:55), Intermediate (26:13) and Junior (27:04) football championships with a look at the fixtures and group standings at all levels.

Reigning Women’s National League champions Peamount United finally start their 2020 season five months later than planned and we speak to Mohill’s Dearbhaile Beirne (29:02) ahead of her sides opening game tomorrow evening against Limerick club Treaty United.

She talks about cup final disappointment, new big name signings, champions league and mixing her WNL commitments with lining out for Mohill in Ladies Football Championships.
