Episode 1: Welcome to Leitrim Daily

It’s the launch of Leitrim Daily with a very special guest, Cathaoirleach (Chairman) of Leitrim County Council, Cllr Enda McGloin joins Breifne Earley to talk about the benefits and challenges of life in Leitrim.

Why people are relocating and investing in Leitrim and the benefits of a healthier work / life balance of living in rural Ireland. Enda discusses the development of the region, the lower cost of living, quality education and growing employment options around the county as the main reasons why people are relocating to County Leitrim.

Breifne also talks to Ballinamore’s Padraig Griffin about his new book “Leitrim Echoes of the Great War” which chronicles the impact the first world war had on the county of Leitrim and the 300 men connected to the county who lost their lives between 1913 and 1919 as members of the British, Canadian, South African, Australia, New Zealand and US Armies.

In a nod to the history of the folklore and creativity of Leitrim, thirteen year old Matthew Gillard, Leitrim Village, recites the opening verse of the classic song “Lovely Leitrim” to get the ball rolling on the show.
