Leitrim PPN, James McDowell & Helena McGovern Hayes – A Current Affair – Episode 145
This week’s ‘A Current Affair’ is looking at two very topical issues in our county. Community Involvement and Representation with the Leitrim Public Participation Network (PPN) and we’re also joined by James McDowell and Helena McGovern Hayes to discuss fitness, health and self esteem.
Tracey Ferguson & Michael Moran of the Leitrim PPN join Breifne to talk about the work of the PPN and how it represents the voluntary and community sector in the county and acts as the communication tool between these groups and the official world within the county.
With members of the community groups representing the collective on policing, environmental, sports and other official groups in the county it ensures that community groups are aware of all the developments happening in the county.
Tracey details the Love Where You Live Awards and the Leitrim Defibrillator Mapping Project which was itself nominated for a Local Government Award for Excellence and has been copied in a number of other regions across the county.
An added bonus is the county now boasts almost 100 registered machines up from the single one registered with the emergency services prior to the launch of the project.
Back in August, we gave away a phenomenal prize of 12 weeks personal training with James McDowell and membership of Train & Gain in the Mulvey Centre, Cortober, Carrick on Shannon. After a detailed application process the successful winner of the competition was Helena McGovern Hayes who has spent the last 12 weeks turning her life around.
James explains why he choose Helena for the prize winner and the type of exercise that Helena did over the duration of the prize.
Helena details the benefits of having James over her shoulder through the process and the phenomenal results she achieved over the course of 3 months under his guidance. Loosing a total of 14kg (31 lbs / 2 stone) she talks about the added energy found, self confidence gained, fitting into her old wardrobe and feeling confident enough to go out and enjoy clothes shopping again.
If you’re already nervous about the notorious post christmas bloat, then you could do a lot worse than getting in touch with James and trying his program yourself, and there is no time like the present. Get in touch with him at his Facebook page.
